Therapeutic Touch (TT) was first developed by a nurse (Dolores Kreger) to excel the healing process in her patients.  TT deals with the energy field each of us has around us.

TT was taken from the practice of laying-on of hands.  Eastern therapeutic systems have long practiced this idea of using a subtle vital energy, which is based on the assumption that there is a universal life energy that sustains all living organisms.  In essence, this means there is an energy field around all living things.

When someone has a disease or is sick, this energy field becomes out of balance and no longer flows freely.  The flow of energy is obstructed and/or depleted.  The Therapeutic Touch practitioner learns to rebalance the flow of energy around the person.  The practitioner does this by directing the universal life force into the person's energy field with a series of movements by their hands, thereby, unblocking the person's energy.

A person that does Therapeutic Touch doesn't need any type of certification to learn.  Many nurses learn it and practice it in hospitals on their patients.  The best way to learn this technique is by taking a seminar or class from someone who can explain the principals to you, and by practicing those techniques.
